Therapy Dog Visits
We have a number of our previous Drewoodle puppies that are certified Therapy Dogs. Here are a few pictures of some of their very important visits. They truly melt hearts and spread joy one paw at a time!!
Drewoodles Therapy Dogs are such amazing dogs!!! We really work hard at producing the best family companion we can from the beginning. We love when puppies continue their training and many of them have had the right temperment to become certified therapy dogs. We love to share our therapy dogs by volunteering our time to take them to a variety of places. Some included in the pictures are schools, libraries, nursing homes, hospitals, veterans, drug & alcohol rehab facilities to name a few. It is one of our passions here is to give back by doing therapy visits. These dogs truly melt hearts and spread joy one paw at a time!!
Many ask... What does it take to be a certified therapy dog? First off, it takes the right temperment of the dog, it takes training starting with breeder and continuing that process with the new owners. It takes committment to your dog to empower them to be the best version of themselves they can. We strongly encourage ALL of our new owners to find a puppy class and a trainer to continue working with the puppy. To become certified therapy dog you must first complete a CGC Canine Good Citizen class and pass the test. . CGC is a great way to train obedience and good manners to help your puppy become a balanced healthy dog. Let's be honest a big part of the class is training the owners! These are super smart dogs and we just need to work together as owner and puppy to learn to communicate effectively. Classes help with that. There are different levels of CGC. Starting with a STAR puppy class, there is also the CGC, The Community CGC, Urban CGC and Advanced CGC. The minimum requirement is to have completed and passed the CGC then you can take the therapy dog class and test. We are always here if you have any questions about further training.
